About Us
Founded in 1951.... Aging Services of Washington (formerly Washington Association of Housing and Services for the Aging) (WAHSA) is the state association serving not-for-profit and mission driven organizations dedicated to providing quality housing, health, community, and related services to our state's seniors. Aging Services of Washington represents and promotes the common interests of its members through leadership, advocacy, education, and member services to enhance their ability to provide quality care and service within their communities.
Our Members.... endeavor to address the total needs of the individual—physical, emotional, social and spiritual. Many Aging Services members have distinct and charitable roots. All Aging Services members strive to exemplify social responsibility, ethical actions, leadership and mutual support and share a commitment of service to more that 28,995 seniors throughout Washington State.
Our Mission.... Aging Services of Washington advocates for its members in the advancement of innnovation, quality, and social responsibility in aging services.
Our Member Core Values.....each member organization and its staff and trustees strive to continually achieve the highest level of public trust and quality in aging services. Each of our member organizations acknowledge that our strength and commitment to achieving public trust and quality in aging services is based on a shared, common purpose which is founded on the following core principles:

Each of our member organizations make a commitment to support one another in achieving our common purpose and agree to be held accountable in all actions and at all levels within their organization.
Affiliations:
Aging Services of Washington is affiliated nationally with the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). The members of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging help millions of individuals and their families every day through mission-driven, not-for-profit organizations dedicated to providing the services that people need, when they need them, in the place they call home. AAHSA’s 5,700 member organizations, many of which have served their communities for generations, offer the continuum of aging services: adult day services, home health, community services, senior housing, assisted living residences, continuing care retirement communities and nursing homes. AAHSA's commitment is to create the future of aging services through quality people can trust.
Aging Services of Washington also supports the AAHSA technology program. The Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST) is leading the charge to expedite the development, evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies that can improve the aging experience. CAST has become an international coalition of more than 400 technology companies, aging services organizations, research universities, and government representatives.

The Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes Campaign is reinvigorating efforts to improve the quality of care and quality of life for those living in America's nursing homes. The campaign is led by an unprecedented coalition of long-term care providers, caregivers, medical and quality improvement experts, government agencies, foundations and consumers. AAHSA is a founder of the campaign. Advancing Excellence builds, complements and strengthens the work of existing quality initiatives including Quality First, the Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI), and the culture change movement.
