2009 Celebrating Timeless Talents Resident Art Program

Aging Services of Washington is excited to develop this project as a positive tool to highlight and emphasize the AAHSA theme “Tell your Story” for our residents. This will encourage creativity and improve self-esteem and at the same time foster a closer relationship with the community and residents.

The program encourages residents of member communities to let their creativity shine in a number of artistic areas: painting, sculpture, poetry, and many more. The first showing was at a reception for artists and their families at Aging Services of Washington’s Winter Conference. Those pieces chosen as finalists were then showcased during a special showing at the State Capitol in Olympia.

The result of the first contest is our (2009-10) 18-Month Calendar as a reminder of the value and many talents of our elderly that are living longer and healthier lives.
